Development Prospects of the Polish and German Generating Sectors – Comparative Analysis

Abstract
Energy policy is a security policy of the country. It should be well thought out, and consider the access to energy sources. At the same time, recent years show how important a common voice of a world policy on the issue of energy is. In Poland, attempts have been made for several years to define a new energy strategy model. This strategy should consider consumer needs, and on the other hand respond to climate challenges. However, the question is what will be the new development strategy for the power system in the next years. The paper discusses the current state of the National Power System and the German power system, availability of primary energy sources, and possible energy technologies of the future power system development strategy. These technologies have been described with a view to the perspectives of their application in the power system.
